Bring Your Kids to Work Day

Last month, Facebook hosted our annual Take Your Kids to Work Day where families learned more about our products, culture, and STEAM education.
This year, our event included several activities designed with children with learning or developmental needs in mind. These spaces were located away from the over-stimulation and noise of the event crowd. They included music therapy, a sensory room, and a calming activity room.

One Heart Music brought the music therapy room to life. They taught children how easy it is to make music through an energetic and playful celebration of songs, instruments, dances, creative movement, and finger plays. Throughout the day, children in the music therapy room developed an internal feel for rhythms, tones, and tempo.
Steve & Kate's Camp created a silent disco and sensory room, where children could rest with calming lights. An oversized coloring wall allowed children to express their creativity. Families willing to get their hands dirty took part in sensory slime play.
Autism Learning Partners created a quiet activity room to give families a break from the crowds and event noise. Children looking for a calm environment played engaging sensory games, finger painted, solved puzzles, colored, and blew bubbles.
Families also learned more about Facebook's mission to give people the power to build community and bring the world closer together. We helped the families at Facebook bring our mission to life at Take Your Kids to Work Day by giving back to families in the local community. We prepared 2,200 snack packs for Second Harvest, donated diapers to Baby Basics, and 300 books to local nonprofits. Schwab also matched donations from our employees to Best Friends Animal Society, Second Harvest Food Bank, Baby Basics, Downtown Street Team, and Bring Change to Mind.
We aspire to make Facebook one of the best companies for families. The people who work at Facebook and their families matter and are a huge part of our community.
