Building Safe Communities: Overview of the APAC Policy Team

As the world becomes more open and connected, Facebook—specifically our Policy team—is at the forefront of a global dialogue around building policies that balance expression and safety.
The Asia Pacific (APAC) Policy team work together with policy makers and governments with one goal in mind: to give people a safe, vibrant, and inclusive digital environment. They manage some of the most pressing and dynamic issues for Facebook across a vast and diverse region. For example, one of their many responsibilities is maintaining visibility into how we develop Facebook's policies. This includes guidelines for what people can post, what they can advertise, and how they can use other products, like our fundraising tools or Marketplace.
This team is a close-knit network of people from diverse backgrounds with expertise in different countries and areas of public policy who engage with a variety of stakeholders including policymakers, academics, and civil society organizations. To help you get a better feel for how Facebook Policy team is making an impact in online safety, we asked three team members to share their thoughts about their work and team culture.

1) Meet our team members

2) What gets you excited when you start your day at work?

3) What are some of the challenges that you are solving in your work?

4) How often does the Policy team work or partner with other teams within Facebook?

5) What is one thing that most people don't know about working on the Policy team at Facebook?

6) What advice would you give someone looking to join Facebook's Policy team?

7) How would you describe your team?

8) Facebook has five core values: move fast, be bold, focus on impact, be open and build social value. Which value resonates most with you?
