Celebrating ADCOLOR 2018 at Facebook!

ADCOLOR kicks off today, and at Facebook, we’re celebrating our ADCOLOR Futures and award nominees!
ADCOLOR is an organization that empowers young and diverse professionals in the creative industries through their mission to “Rise Up Reach Back”. The ADCOLOR Futures program recognizes a select group of young leaders who have paved the path in their careers to be the next leaders. In addition, ADCOLOR also honors diverse individuals that go above and beyond to make a difference in the creative and tech industries. We’re thrilled to have four Facebook ADCOLOR Futures this year, and two Facebook ADCOLOR award nominees!
At Facebook, our people make us who we are. It's what shapes our culture and our core values, and we’re proud to have a group of strong individuals and leaders who are helping us champion diversity across the advertising, marketing and communications industries. We’ve spent the past week getting to know our ADCOLOR Futures and award nominees and learning about how they are rising up and giving back at Facebook and in their local communities. Check out their stories on our Instagram page and below.

Meet our 2018 ADCOLOR FUTURES

Felix N., Manager, Business Product Specialist Team, GMS

How does Facebook embrace diversity and inclusion?

So many ways! At Facebook, we have our Diversity Team that exists solely to encourage and support our diverse community. They are always open to our ideas and contributions — whether that means holding events for our community, creating a safe and open environment or providing funding to execute new diversity initiatives. Beyond that team, whether it's executives and senior leadership or the program managers, everyone here is willing to make themselves available to help you. Everyone is so supportive, and it’s incredibly empowering.

Ejeb Dema, Account Manager, SMB, GMS

How have you found your community at Facebook?

At Facebook, I’ve found my community by engaging with others on topics and initiatives that embody my values around culture, community, and society. For instance, Facebook’s employee resource group, Black@, has given myself and others a chance to embrace our culture, lead marketing sessions for local organizations, and cultivate a sense of comradery.

Grace Sun, Creative Strategist, Creative Shop

Why are you excited to be an ADCOLOR Future?

I’m excited to be an ADCOLOR Future because I hope to dedicate my career to widening the spectrum of the stories that get told. It’s a tumultuous but exciting time to be in media, advertising, and entertainment. Our films, television shows, and magazine covers serve as a mirror to our society. I believe that the best ideas live at the intersection of community and culture, and that technology is our greatest tool to democratize creativity.

Blue B., Partner Manager, SMB

What are you most looking forward to or excited about at Ad Color this year?

I'm looking forward to hearing and learning about the various diversity-related issues that minorities are facing in our industry and taking these learnings back to Facebook, so we can continue to drive change and promote diversity and inclusivity from within.

Meet our 2018 ADCOLOR Award Nominees

Elisha G., Senior Brand Strategist in The Factory

Nominated for the 2018 ADCOLOR Change Agent Award

How does Facebook embrace diversity and inclusion?

Facebook has built a really open environment. I’ve never been shut down here; everyone truly believes good ideas can come from anywhere. Not to mention, the black community at Facebook is everything! I’ve been blown away by how interesting, dynamic and productive the community is here.

Morgan H., Client Solutions Manager, GSO APAC, Singapore

Nominated for the 2018 ADCOLOR Rising Star Award

The theme of ADCOLOR this year is “moment of truth”, in your career what was your moment of truth?

It was almost two years ago when I met this woman who became my close mentor and friend at Facebook. I was telling her how happy I was with my job and life at the time, but she could sense something was missing. So she pushed me to go after what I really wanted, to live and work in a different country. Now, two years later, Facebook has presented me with this incredible opportunity to pursue this dream. I’ve relocated to the Singapore office to work with the some of the world’s largest marketing organizations to grow Facebook’s international development, and it gives me a sense of fulfillment I've never had before.
