What did you enjoy the most about your internship?
While the projects I was given were very interesting and intellectual challenging, it was the people in the office that made my internship so enjoyable. They struck a perfect balance between smart people you can learn a lot from, people that push you forward – and people you would want to hang out with. The Tel-Aviv office was blessed with awesome people that became my friends.
What is it about working at Facebook that has most impressed you?
The challenges that Facebook faces, the scale at which it works and the super-smart people you work with put me in awe almost every day. However, the thing that impressed me even more about working at Facebook was how important it is to the company that you are happy. It starts with perks – great food, ergonomic chairs, tables that allow you to work while standing and headphones that you can just pick up from the vending machine, and these things are just a small part of a very long list.
The perks are just one way in which Facebook cares. For instance, when I started my full time job at Facebook, it took me a while to find a team that matched my interests. My bootcamp managers, however, went above and beyond to help me find the right position, one that I was passionate about. The fact that Facebook cares about your wellbeing and satisfaction at work is what impresses me the most.
What contribution during your internship are you most proud of?
During my internship I came up with an idea to solve a problem that was presented to us during bootcamp classes. Although it wasn't part of what I was initially doing during my internship, the problem was high-impact and my manager saw that I was very passionate about it, and so they allowed me to run with it. It was later chosen as one of the winning projects of a hackathon we had and was even presented to Mark Zuckerberg. This was just 1 month into the internship.
What was the best event you went to during your internship?
Facebook has a program called Facebook BFF, if 4 people or more from the company want to go out to eat or do an activity, Facebook will cover the costs, up to a certain amount per person, per event. On my last night in London, before going back to Tel-Aviv, many of us went out to various pubs around London (I only knew 2 people!) After that night we all kept in touch, and coming back to the London office, a year later, we are still friends.

The London office is full of people from all over the world.
You relocated from Tel Aviv to London for your University Grad role, can you talk about your journey?
I love London, and living here was something I wanted to experience. Upon receiving the offer at the end of my internship, I knew graduation was the perfect time to start this adventure. I asked my recruiter at the time, if I could accept my offer in the London office, and was delighted to hear that not only could I work at the London office, Facebook will take care of all the relocation arrangements. Among other things, Facebook flew me to London, had a container shipped from Israel with just about anything I wanted to take with me, gave me a wicked apartment in London while I looked for a place of my own (with the help of a local real estate agent Facebook paid for), and the list goes on. In short, if you were to relocate, this is the way to go.
It may seem strange that Facebook will go to such lengths to help me relocate, when I was the one that asked for it, but that's just another way in which Facebook cares about you as an employee.

I've met most of my friends here for the first time in BFF events, and then we started hanging out after work hours, and we became friends.
Once I had the logistics sorted out, I moved to the next step – making friends in a city where you know no one. Luckily, the London office is full of people from all over the world and the office has many ways to help you get to know new people. One of them is the BFF program I previously mentioned, in fact, looking back 6 months after arriving to the city, I've met most of my friends here for the first time in BFF events, and then we started hanging out after work hours, and we became friends. No doubt, moving to London would have been a whole different experience if it wasn't for Facebook's desire to make the relocation process as smooth as possible – logistically and socially.
Which Facebook value (Move Fast, Focus on Impact, Build Social Value, Be Open, Be Bold) resonated most within your intern team?
While all values were shown through our work, Focus on Impact is what resonated the most with my team and personally with me. So what does Focus on Impact mean? In Facebook, you prioritize your work by what impact it will have on helping the company reaching its goals, and by the impact it will have on the world. And it's everywhere – it's how you pick a project, how you prioritize your tasks and even how you handle bugs. Focusing (almost ruthlessly) on impact was weird at first, and took me some time to get used to, but when I did, I started looking at things differently.
It makes you set clear goals, helps you spend your time better on what's important, and it just so happens that when you focus on impact in you daily work, you can look back at it after a while and point to real changes you've made. And at the end of my internship, I was proud of what I accomplished in 3 months – not only the cool system I'd written and the neat ways I've found to solve coding problems, but of the impact it had on Facebook.
