We are looking for a Planner to join our Backbone team to support the expansion of our global network. This is an ideal role for a Network Planner that wants to work on a purpose built and ever-expanding network that touches and changes the lives of billions for the better every day.
Network Data Center Planner Responsibilities
- Create detailed Data Center Network capacity plans that include greenfield designs, brownfield upgrades, and other organic or 'inorganic growth drivers on a quarterly basis
- Track changes of the latest developments in networking technologies, including routing protocols, hardware advancements, and network interface cards. Evaluate and integrate these technologies into the network planning process to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Codify network design topologies and architectures using Interface Description Language for example thrift to ensure consistency between current production states and future desired network states.
- Set and manage utilization levels for data center and fabric network layers. Monitor network performance and trigger necessary augmentations to maintain optimal operation and prevent bottlenecks
- Work closely with engineering, operations, and other cross-functional teams to align network planning with broader organizational goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Understanding of fabric architectures, including spine-leaf designs and overlay/underlay networks.
- 6+ years of experience in network planning in high capacity, mission critical environment
- Experience with designing Data Center, IP, Optical, or Fiber networks and knowledge of current technology
- Knowledge of network topology and experience in building resiliency design
- 6+ years of experience with network modeling tools such as One Planner, OPNET, Cariden, WAE, Aria, WANDL or other in-house tools
- 3+ years of coding experience in Python or another programming language (e.g. PHP, C++, or Java)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data center infrastructure and cloud computing platforms
- Production Network design and operations experience
- Experience with network automation tools (Ansible, Python, Terraform).
- Experience modeling and analyzing a business case for network expansion or fiber acquisition

$147,000/year to $208,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
