At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. As a FPGA Engineer at Meta Reality Labs Research, you will design, build, and test prototype electrical systems for future consumer augmented reality and mixed reality products/experiences. You will become part of a cross-functional team exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping. The team will typically include electrical, mechanical, optical, firmware, software, and research experts. We are looking for people who work well across disciplines, brainstorm big ideas, work in new technology areas, drive a concept into a prototype, and foremost excel in co-developing software/hardware systems.
FPGA Engineer - Reality Labs Research Responsibilities
  • Define, build, and enhance FPGA-based research prototyping platforms
  • Select and procure the appropriate FPGA devices and development boards
  • Create FPGA interface documentation for hardware/software interfaces
  • Utilize rapid FPGA prototyping to validate technical feasibility
  • Build vendor-neutral FPGA/RTL designs intended to prototype ASIC implementations
  • Coordinate with 3rd party vendors for software, firmware, and FPGA design services
  • Collaborate in a team environment spanning various technical domains
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of FPGA design experience using Verilog, SystemVerilog, or VHDL
  • 3+ years of FPGA design experience using AMD/Xilinx or Intel/Altera devices, Gowin or Lattice
  • Programming familiarity in C and/or C++
  • Programming experience in one or more scripting languages such as Python, tcl, shell scripts, or equivalent EDA tool scripting languages
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent field
  • Experience with Agile RTL or HLS methodologies such as Vivado HLS, Catapult HLS, Chisel, PyMTL, Stratus HLS, or others
  • Experience developing Agile hardware development infrastructure tools
  • Experience developing accompanying firmware to exercise and drive FPGA prototypes

$114,000/year to $166,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
