Meta seeks a highly motivated team player to serve as Litigation Counsel for the EMEA region in the litigation team with a focus on pre-litigation claims across jurisdictions in Europe, Middle East and Africa. You will be joining the EMEA-wide disputes team to work on pre-litigation claims in a vibrant environment. You will be charged with running a large docket of cases with a focus on content and account-level disputes and demonstrating experience handling pre-litigation claims across multiple jurisdictions is a necessity. As part of the role, you will partner closely with the rest of the EMEA-wide disputes team, other legal teams and internal stakeholders from across the business, helping to set strategy across the company's areas. Litigation Counsel, EMEA Disputes Responsibilities
  • Handling pre-litigation claims across EMEA in autonomy, managing all aspects including complex fact-finding, pre-litigation correspondence and ad-hoc requests from partners.
  • Supervise pre-litigation processes across various workstreams and identify strategy adjustments to drive efficiency.
  • Close collaboration with the EMEA-wide disputes team to ensure a unified overall strategy.
  • Partner and coordinate with internal stakeholders such as other legal teams, public policy and communications colleagues, business, operations and product teams.
  • Assist in managing Outside Counsel relationships across EMEA including with a material oversight on costs.
  • Develop strategic approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes, being a core partner and actively looking for opportunities to help develop and improve processes and team know-how.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
  • Qualified lawyer with 1+ years of Post-Qualification Experience in a law firm or in-house.
  • Civil Litigation experience in Germany/UK/Ireland or another EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa ) jurisdiction is a must and you will have ideally worked across several jurisdictions. If you are in private practice, you should work in a relevant litigation department. If you are an in-house lawyer you should work on litigation as a core part of your role.
  • Familiarity with Internet laws and regulation, including in emerging areas and content-related legislation and a proven record of advising on these.
  • Demonstrated experience to work in a collaborative environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines with thoroughness and accuracy.
  • Candidates should demonstrate experience in adapting to changing priorities and projects and willing to work on different jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience in collaborating closely with others and showing thoughtful and inclusive collaboration is a must.
