Public Policy
Meta’s Safety Policy team works with external stakeholders and internal teams across Meta to support the safety and well-being of our global community through our policies, tools, resources, and partnerships. We are looking for a Safety Policy Manager to help drive our child safety strategy and help us combat human exploitation. This individual will work on these issues across our policies, technology, and resources, including by engaging external experts and organizations to design and grow adoption of systems and initiatives aimed at preventing harm, working with product teams and industry partners on innovative safety features, and collaborating with a large internal team of experts to drive holistic, durable, and effective protections. This individual will be responsible for: (1) bringing subject matter expertise from both their own experience and engagement with experts and expert organizations to our product, operations, and policy work; (2) working alongside cross-functional partners to counsel product teams, including issue spotting and proactively solving for new and emerging issues; (3) working with experts, external organizations, and industry, to build safety resources and increase knowledge sharing across sectors; and (4) helping drive safety outcomes in a dynamic global environment. The ideal candidate is a constant learner, skilled at prioritizing and problem-solving with limited oversight, highlyorganized, good at navigating ambiguity, expert in juggling multiple tasks/timelines at once, and passionate about keeping people safe, the services we provide, and the people that we serve. This person should be an effective communicator who excels at working collaboratively and effectively within highly cross-functional global teams, consistently delivers high-quality work under pressure, and is adept at evaluating the policy and safety implications of our policies, tools, processes, and systems. They should have experience driving multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with expertise in emerging technologies. They should also have experience developing supportive experiences to keep youth safe online, preventing and deterring predatory or adversarial behavior, or combatting human exploitation.
Safety Policy Manager, Child Safety and Human Exploitation Responsibilities
  • Responsible for understanding the global landscape of academia, civil society, advocates, think tanks, and other relevant global stakeholders with a focus on child safety and combatting human exploitation.
  • Develop and implement frameworks, proactively identify risks and develop mitigation strategies, and effectively communicate said strategies to product, ops, policy teams, and others.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand and communicate the external landscape around child safety and human exploitation, including regulatory, technology, academic, and industry-wide developments.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience with trust, safety, policy, or operations, and child safety, human exploitation, or similar field.
  • Experience with consensus-building and proven track record of taking a collaborative approach to problem solving and teamwork.

  • Experience operating independently and in structured processes with a high level of organization.
  • Experience growing and managing strategic partnerships, and presenting before internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience producing results under deadlines, juggling multiple projects at once, finding pragmatic and innovative solutions to business issues, providing concise and business-focused advice, and making sound judgments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Global or tech industry work experience.
  • Understanding of the current external landscape, including youth safety legislation, human exploitation legislation, and regulatory activity.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
