- Drive the team's goals and technical direction to pursue opportunities that make your larger organization more efficient
- Effectively communicate complex features and systems in detail
- Understand industry and company-wide trends to help assess & develop new technologies
- Partner and collaborate with organization leaders to help improve the level of performance of the team and organization
- Identify new opportunities for the larger organization and influence the appropriate people for staffing/prioritizing these new ideas
- Lead long term technical strategy and roadmap for large cross-company efforts
- Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create an effective feature and technology roadmap
- Identify and resolve performance and scalability issues, and drive large efforts to reduce technical debt
- Programming experience in C++ and Python
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmap in which short-term projects ladder to the long-term mission
- Proven track record of leading exploratory projects from ideation to proof-of-concepts
- Experience driving large cross-functional, company or industry-wide engineering efforts
- Experience utilizing data and analysis to explain technical problems and provide detailed feedback and solutions
- Experience communicating and working across functions to drive solutions
- Experience mentoring/influencing experienced engineers across organizations
- Experience in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume data from varying sources
- Experience in machine learning
- PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Signal Processing, Robotics Human-Computer Interaction, Biomedical Engineering or related)
- Proven track record of leading design and deployment end-to-end systems for consumer-facing hardware (such as edge devices, wearables) demonstrated through leading complex projects involving hardware sensors, signal processing, machine learning for real-world data, and the development of edge/cloud computation
- Experience in building scalable data pipelines, model training, and deployment frameworks for wearables or mobile devices
- Experience with large-scale model training, transfer learning, and data-efficient ML
- Experience building and maintaining SDKs or developer platforms for ML/data-driven products
