This is an opportunity to join Meta's public policy team in Ireland on a 12 month STE contract. We are seeking an experienced professional to lead our Ireland public policy strategy on high priority areas including Artificial Intelligence. You will join the Ireland Public Policy team, who lead all aspects of Meta’s public policy work in this priority market for the business. You will help shape policy conversations with policymakers in the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament), in Government, and in the broader business sector/civil society. You will also advise our internal teams and leadership on the public policy implications of our products and wider positions as a company. The role requires significant experience either working with, or in, Government, politics, regulatory agencies or industry bodies in Ireland, as well as grasping complex technical and policy issues. You will need knowledge of existing tech policy debates in Ireland and the European Union, ideally including solid knowledge of the issues around the potential of AI models and products. You’ll work with the Ireland and wider European policy teams to shape and deliver the company’s product and policy vision in the region, work with the Director of Public Policy in Ireland to devise and execute public policy campaigns with Irish stakeholders, and to advance Meta's mission to create a more open and connected world. The successful candidate will enjoy public speaking and be excited about the possibility of representing Meta externally, including in difficult, high-stakes conversations with external stakeholders.
Public Policy Manager, Ireland (STE contract - 12 months) Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Director of Public Policy in Ireland to shape and ensure delivery of national strategies in support of Meta’s policy and product agendas.
  • Through close collaboration with internal policy and product teams, ensure consistency of Meta’s Ireland policy engagement strategies with our global policy agenda
  • Represent Meta to external policy stakeholders at events, conferences, technical meetings with regulators, and other public fora.
  • Brief executives across Meta on the risks and opportunities emerging from the policy and political landscape in Ireland
  • Advise Meta’s internal teams on Irish policy matters to guide development of products and policies
  • Build compelling campaign narratives and third party mobilisation strategies in collaboration with Meta’s Europe Campaigns team and other cross-functional teams
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of government and/or public policy experience
  • Experience working on the policy issues relating to online safety, technology and AI
  • Understanding of how to translate technical issues into persuasive public policy advocacy.
  • English fluent, communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • First-hand experience of the Oireachtas (Irish Parliament) will be an asset.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Irish technology, online platform and AI landscape, particularly major academic centers, start-ups, trade bodies, government institutions and public commentators.
