Meta seeking someone to serve as Regulatory Litigation Counsel on Meta’s EMEA Disputes team. You will be joining an international legal team to work on cutting edge issues. The role will work with the Regulatory Litigation team on high-profile, precedent-setting regulatory inquiries and related litigation focusing on data privacy matters across EMEA, with a particular focus on Africa, the Middle East and Turkey. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a market-leading legal team and work on novel regulatory matters.
Regulatory Litigation Counsel, EMEA Disputes Responsibilities
  • Provide legal advice and assist in managing various stages of regulatory inquiries and consequent litigation in matters pending before regulators and courts across the EMEA region, with a focus on data protection, data security, as well as e-privacy issues primarily in Africa, the Middle East, and Turkey
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on multiple high-profile regulatory and litigation matters
  • Partner and coordinate with key internal stakeholders such as data protection teams, public policy and communications colleagues, business and product teams, and regional leadership
  • Engage proactively in cross functional teams to provide internal legal advice across many subject areas, with a particular focus on assessing regulatory/litigation risk
  • Drive improvements and project manage process changes, being a core team player and actively looking for opportunities to develop and improve processes and know-how
Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified lawyer (qualified to practice law in at least one of these regions: Africa, Middle East, Turkey or Europe) with 3+ years post qualification experience in a law firm or relevant in house experience
  • Litigation and regulatory experience, working on cases in Africa, Middle East, Turkey.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with data privacy laws, particularly across Africa, the Middle East and Turkey, and their application to online platforms
  • Relevant litigation experience with a focus on contentious regulatory matters or In-house experience with litigation as the core part of your role, and some regulatory practice experience
