The Meta Reality Labs (RL) Sensor team is developing products that will contribute to the development of augmented and virtual reality. Amongst other focus areas, the group specializes in research and implementation of biosensors with an eye towards driving the state of the art. We are looking for intern candidates with experience in sensor system design and implementation to collaborate with our team in pursuit of novel sensing technologies.
Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Research Scientist Intern, Sensor Integration (PhD) Responsibilities
  • Design sensing systems from an ME and EE perspective including component selection and layout
  • Run bench testing to validate and characterize designs
  • Assemble and build sensing systems including board bring up
  • Communicate and present results to a wide range of audiences
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related fields
  • Knowledge of physics and resonant transducer fundamentals
  • Experience with sensor hardware design as demonstrated in projects or authored publications
  • Hands on experience with prototype design for benchtop and user studies as demonstrated in research projects
  • 2+ years of experience with multiphysics simulation using tools such as COMSOL
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ Years of experience with resonant MEMS sensors such as accelerometers, microphones, ultrasonic transducers, or similar
  • Hands on experience with data acquisition/logging systems such as NI, Nordic, Arduino, etc as demonstrated in projects or authored publications
  • Experience with board layout tools as demonstrated in projects or authored publications
  • Experience with solid modeling in CAD as demonstrated in projects or authored publications
  • Experience with microcontroller firmware programming as demonstrated in projects or authored publications
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op

$7,650/month to $11,333/month + benefits

Please note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s final level and final location. Also, this range represents base salary only and does not include the company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits , if applicable.
