Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced attorney to join a growing team focused on technology and its impact in people's lives to serve as Associate General Counsel - Integrity focusing on the APAC region. Meta Integrity teams are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive community and helping to ensure safe and trusted connections between people, businesses, and Meta. You will provide strategic legal counseling to internal product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams in order to identify and mitigate legal risk in APAC. You will also provide oversight as a central management function across Legal department teams for subject matter expertise on Integrity. You will also provide advice on support on integrity measures and products, new product launches, compliance escalations, governance requirements, the production of (RFI’s) Request For Information’s and regulatory engagement strategy. The role requires big picture thinking, sound business judgment, a great work ethic and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law. Associate General Counsel - Integrity Regulatory Legal - APAC Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage Meta’s response to content and other integrity legal obligations and risks both in the US and internationally, including devising strategy and coordinating cross-functional programs
  • Function as a subject matter expert for the Legal Department on integrity matters, particularly with respect to user-generated content, to assess risk, and provide legal guidance
  • Serve as a primary coordinating function for Legal on integrity matters, building consensus with stakeholders within the Legal Department and across the company, developing and maintaining relationships with our Legal and cross-functional partners in product, policy, and operations
  • Support centralized governance for distributed Legal integrity subject matter experts, working cross functionally with legal teams such as regulatory, litigation, product, and compliance
  • Drive strategy and high-impact, complex projects involving Meta’s approach to integrity, including managing and responding to legal obligations and risks globally, alongside policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
  • Partner and collaborate with product teams, global operations teams, regional teams, and other lawyers to develop strategic approaches to managing risk, particularly with respect to content and integrity
  • Manage and lead critical escalations to Legal and other leadership regarding Meta’s approach to integrity legal obligations and risks, efficiently and effectively driving toward company-level decisions
Minimum Qualifications
  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
  • 8+ years PQE in a law firm or in-house.
  • Demonstrated litigation experience and/or regulatory compliance experience, including experience dealing with contentious regulatory matters, ideally across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience in explaining complex technologies in concise and accessible ways to courts and/or regulatory bodies.
  • Experience advising on legal and/or regulatory issues that apply to social technology, online platforms, e-commerce, or other related Internet technologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Adept at delivering practical advice under pressure, prioritizing work, and driving complex projects to completion
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills and experience managing multiple projects with diverse stakeholders
