We are seeking a specialist to drive development of textiles, yarns and related softgoods components to meet functional, cosmetic and reliability requirements for our range of consumer electronics products and accessories.
Softgoods Development Specialist Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product Design Engineers, Industrial Design and CMF teams to source or develop textiles and related softgoods components that meet functional, cosmetic and reliability targets.
  • Build presentations and reports to aggregate test results and qualitative attributes, and present them in order to explain and recommend potential development directions to cross functional partners while managing their expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a library of textile materials, including technical specifications and testing data.
  • Communicate technical guidance and priorities to vendors, and serve as a key point of contact for vendors throughout the product development process while maintaining detailed records of all communications.
  • Manage version control of development textiles throughout the product development process, and ensure that all cross-functional partners have access to the most up-to-date information.
  • Design and execute testing to satisfy cross-functional partner teams requirements, and facilitate down selection of textile materials.
  • Coordinate material testing both in-house and with third-party partners, and maintain detailed records of all testing results.
  • Source new vendors to expand our development partners in the US, East Asia and worldwide.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the engineering and product development teams, and convert their requests into actionable programs through conversations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience to push to solve hard problems while also managing cross functional expectations.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective prioritization of deliverables with competing deadlines.
  • Basic understanding of textile machinery categories and functions.
  • Familiarity with secondary textile processing and decoration techniques.
  • 3+ years of experience in textiles and / or softgoods development.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 6+ months experience of product development for consumer electronics devices.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Textile Engineering, Softgoods, or a related field.

$129,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
