At Reality Labs Research (RL-R), our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer with experience developing and shipping consumer electronics (ideally wearables) while considering a broad range of business and hardware requirements including materials, manufacturability, form factor, ergonomics, and integration of technologies on softgoods substrates. We are specifically looking for a history partnering with suppliers in Asia to create novel devices.
Mechanical Engineer (R&D) Responsibilities
  • Work across the full product development cycle to deliver mechanical component/subsystem designs from concept to production.
  • Manage suppliers for prototypes and production of parts.
  • Manage the schedule of your parts in concert with the full program schedule
  • Partner with a cross-functional team of engineers and researchers.
  • Work with first and third party partners to advance the maturity of component technology.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience developing high-volume consumer products with stringent SWaP-C constraints in such as wearables, mobile devices, or similar.
  • 3+ years of experience in 3D CAD modeling (NX, Solidworks, or similar).
  • Experience working cross functionally to rapidly prototyping new concepts.
  • Experience designing for CNC, injection molding, die cutting, lamination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience developing wearable devices using elastomers and textiles.
  • Experience integrating haptic components into device.
  • Project management experience.
  • Experience managing component vendors.
  • Experience planning and executing DOEs.

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
