Meta seeks a highly motivated technology enthusiast to serve as Privacy Counsel for our AI initiatives, with a particular focus on generative AI. This role will advise AI product legal and privacy teams on privacy legal and regulatory issues, which will require application of complex and evolving legal frameworks to a new and innovative space. This is a great opportunity to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment, as we build and scale our global community. This is a full-time position.
Associate General Counsel, Privacy (AI) Responsibilities
  • Serve as primary privacy legal partner for several AI product legal and Privacy teams working on proposed AI initiatives, to provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
  • Manage frequent, fast-paced privacy legal escalations, and lead consensus building across legal partners globally
  • Provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
  • Help respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations related to AI
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house, ideally at an internet or technology company
  • Solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction or the UK).
  • Significant experience with product, privacy, or regulatory counseling related to global privacy and AI-related laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media, internet and technology companies
  • Experience managing regulatory inquiries and investigations
  • In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws, regulations, privacy programs and industry guidelines.
  • Articulate and analytical legal professional, who is diligent, proactive, collaborative, and who has demonstrated sound legal and business judgment and strategic thinking.
  • Experience working on multiple projects in a deadline-focussed environment, delivering practical advice under pressure.
  • Experience using business judgment and with client counseling, including with communicating legal advice to clients.
  • Experience taking on projects involving different subject matters, and working with cross-functional organizations to drive alignment.
  • Meta requires all employed attorneys to have a law degree or equivalent certificate to permit the practice of law and be appropriately licensed and authorized to practice law for the company in their assigned work location. Unless prohibited under local law, an attorney must hold a current practicing certificate (including where required from the relevant authority in the jurisdiction of the assigned work location) or the local law equivalent bar registration or license as may be applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on AI-powered products
  • Prior in-house experience at a technology company
  • Knowledge of AI and Machine Learning technologies
