The Wearables Audio Technology Team (WATT) is looking for an experienced Audio System Engineer to develop and deliver the next generation of Meta devices. Successful candidates will be comfortable collaborating with domain experts, influencing WATT Audio and cross-functional hardware teams, driving audio integration of subsystems into the product. We are looking for proven experience delivering audio systems for consumer electronics, taking on proof-of-concepts, device level integration, product development influence, root-cause analysis, and logical design improvements leading to production readiness. Our approach demands a data driven development process, combining objective measurements with perceptual audio evaluation to guide trade-offs with a focus on customer experience. The best fit for the role will communicate effectively, representing WATT with cross-functional hardware teams while relating customer experience with quantitative and qualitative data. We take a hard stance on audio experience and build quality for Meta products, thus high quality presentation of audio data to other functions is critical to ensure successful audio experiences. A successful Audio System Engineer will drive engineering success by collaborating with domain experts and owning the system-level performance outcomes.
Audio Systems Engineer Responsibilities
- Own project audio integration as primary cross-functional interface for PD, ID, EE, MTE, etc
- Define, own, and champion system level performance targets.
- Drive and influence holistic audio system design across Render, Capture, and Audio EE.
- Collaboration with WATT and external specialized functional teams.
- Develop POC HW and demos to establish performance, gaining XFN and leadership buy-in.
- Collaborative development of new audio technologies.
- FATP test requirement specification.
- Support build activities in collaboration with Asia-Pacific counterparts
Minimum Qualifications
- Meaningful experience in all aspects of product level audio system development, building technology POCs, product design and development, testing, FACA, production readiness, etc
- Bachelor’s in Acoustics, Physics, EE, or ME or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience focused around audio design, testing, failure analysis, etc.
- Acoustic Simulation LEM/BEM/FEM (acoustic, magnetic, and/or multiphysics etc.)
- MATLAB (design, testing, algorithm prototyping, etc).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or PhD in Acoustics or Physics with 8+ years experience
- Experience with algorithm prototyping (Max MSP, MATLAB, etc) and 3D modeling (Nx, SolidWorks, etc)
- Experience with transducer design (speakers, microphone, MEM's, etc) and acoustic test development (lab and factory)
- Highly effective presentation skills

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
