Image Quality Test Engineer Responsibilities
  • Perform Objective Image Quality and Benchmarking - In-depth objective analysis, IQ Regression, IQ Benchmarking, Module Characterization, Come up with new to industry metrics and KPIs
  • Design and conduct objective and subjective/perceptual lab and field experiments of prototype hardware and software to critically examine image quality, behavior, and performance.
  • Design and execute test procedures to validate image quality and camera performance, based on specific tuning parameters
  • Manage data collection, processing algorithm development, test automation, and result reporting.
  • Design and execute image quality studies on complex problems to inform cross-functional partners and drive critical for products decisions.
  • Analyze experiment results and give feedback to direct feature development (Hardware, ISP, Algorithm design and tuning) with cross functional partners.
  • Communicate and report key deliverables to cross-functional teams to drive IQ decisions and improvements.
  • Design and implement new test setups and metrics for image quality evaluation.
  • Create automation test scripts, implement test frameworks, and conduct data analysis using C/C++, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Conduct camera debugging, root cause analysis, and problem-solving to support IQ development.
  • Work closely with other functional groups (systems engineers, software/firmware engineers, project managers) to define and execute a comprehensive image quality test strategy for new AR/MR/VR products
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in image and video quality testing, including knowledge in metrics, algorithms, and evaluation methods for benchmarking or camera characterization
  • Demonstrated experience of identifying, reproducing, and isolating image quality issues via visual analysis
  • Demonstrated experience of designing test methodologies to answer complex questions
  • Experience in designing, executing, and analyzing subjective and objective image quality tests
  • Hands-on experience in developing, implementing, and troubleshooting image quality test infrastructure, including hardware, test charts, software, automation
  • English language proficiency and team collaboration skills required
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • This role requires to be onsite at the Meta Sofia site.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Imaging Science, Color Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Experience in using industry standard evaluation frameworks such as DXO, Imatest, and IQ Analyzer.
  • Flexible scheduling within 40 hours/week, including occasional evening shifts
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or C/C++. Basic knowledge in Android platform.
  • Knowledge of the complete image processing pipeline
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and version control systems, such as Git
