We’re looking for system or board level Electrical Engineers with experience in high volume consumer products or developing technology leading prototypes to inform Reality Lab’s roadmap. The ideal candidate is comfortable designing mixed domain high-speed digital circuit boards, an experienced troubleshooter at the board and system level, and has familiarity with consumer product development processes. In the role you will be working with emerging technologies across the AR/MR space with the opportunity to learn from the industry leaders and help Meta achieve its goal of helping people feel connected, anytime, anywhere.
Electrical Engineer - RL Accessories Responsibilities
- Support electrical subsystem development, qualification and system integration from the concept phase to mass production.
- Own electrical development of highly complex subsystems or moderately complex systems under the direction of a technical lead
- Design schematics, direct board layout, conduct design reviews and draft design documentations
- Conduct feasibility studies and analysis to evaluate new technologies and components. Propose innovative solutions to enhance product performance and features
- Manage bring up and debug, support manufacturing and assembly build
- Collaborate in a team environment and work across engineering disciplines to develop systems and manage trade offs across electronics, mechanics, sensors, thermal, firmware and software
- Evaluate vendor reference design and transform these into custom solutions which meet product and form factor constraints
- Support R&D, debugging, and builds at vendor locations, both domestic and international
- Work in distributed team environment
- Work autonomously and take initiative to manage individual and team priorities
- Travel both domestically and internationally
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of system design or consumer electrical system design
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Proven knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals
- Experience with schematic and board design using Cadence OrCAD, Altium or equivalent
- Effective communication, collaboration and partnership with colleagues, cross-functional partners in dynamic and evolving development environments
- Experience working with one of these technologies: use of oscilloscopes, high speed digital test equipment, logic analyzers, or function generators
Preferred Qualifications
- 12+ years of system design or consumer electrical system design
- MS or PHD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with analog/mixed signal IC design, fabrication, and validation process.
- Experience in design of high power and battery subsystems
- Experience with EMI and ESD risks and mitigation techniques.
- Experience with audio technologies
- Experience programming in languages like Python or C/C++
- Experience with circuit design in high speed circuits, microcontrollers, microprocessors, firmware, and programmable logic based development
- Experience designing for HDI flexible and rigid substrates for high volume cost optimized applications
- Experience developing manufacturing tests for high-volume consumer products
- Experience defining system architecture based on product specification
- Consumer Electronics experience and/or working within a mass production environment
