The Metaverse HW Validation Team is responsible for developing and deploying verification and validation infrastructure that inform product decisions and drive design maturity for Meta’s Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality (VR/MR) portfolio. As a Mechanical Design Verification Engineer at Meta, you will be responsible for managing and driving execution of mechanical and system level validation of various VR/MR products under development. A successful engineer in this role must work with minimal supervision on multiple projects in parallel in a fast-paced environment.
Mechanical Design Verification Engineer Responsibilities
  • Own mechanical verification of Mixed Reality products end-to-end to ensure functionality and performance of all mechanical subsystems at time zero. Responsibilities including test plan development, resource & schedule planning, test execution, driving root cause analysis
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure proper coverage based on design specification
  • Track test progress, document bugs, and fixes, and produce regular progress reports. Convert large amounts of data into a clear summary to communicate to stakeholders at all levels
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies and facilitate conflict resolution
  • Create test setups, collect and analyze data to help debug technical issues, and support cross-functional design engineering teams in driving resolution and verify fixes
  • Participate in design reviews and make recommendations to support overall test strategy
  • International and domestic travel required
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree/experience
  • 5+ years of experience in consumer electronics or related industry, proven understanding of overall hardware system architecture common to consumer electronics products
  • Experience creating verification and validation plans for hardware products including developing test methodologies for new features and technologies
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools, Design of Experiments, Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R), tolerance analysis
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or related field
  • Proven understanding of consumer electronics product lifecycle, development process and partner ecosystem
  • Experience working with overseas suppliers and manufacturing partners in a JDM/ODM model
  • Knowledge of Python or other scripting languages to facilitate automation and data analysis at scale

$139,000/year to $200,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
