Delivering on this vision requires a next-generation operating system—one designed to push the boundaries of power efficiency and performance. We are seeking an engineering leader to drive the development of our operating system that powers Meta’s mixed reality and VR devices. In this role, you will lead the team responsible for building and evolving this software stack, guiding it through every stage of our product launches. You’ll collaborate closely with our Silicon and Device engineering teams to deliver the technology foundation that enables the next generation of VR devices. You will be expected to live, eat and breathe product experiences and product quality. You will be expected to enable 1/2/3P developers to build experiences on our platforms. We are looking for a leader with a solid technical foundation and experience effectively leading large software organizations with a background in hardware.

VP, OS Engineering Responsibilities

Build, manage and support broad teams of engineering directors and managers

Provide both technical and organizational leadership

Form cross-functional and cross-discipline partnerships to drive engineering efforts

Establish effective strategies and execute against them

Recruit and retain top talent

Minimum Qualifications

15+ years of technical industry experience

10+ years of management experience

Experience as VP or C-level of an engineering organization at a company operating at scale

Experience managing and scaling organizations

Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal guidance

Experience analyzing, interpreting, and leveraging data to make business decisions

Proven communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with complex consumer electronics, like smartphones and wearable devices and Operating systems

Android Open Source Project, Real-Time Operating System, and embedded software

$471,000/year to $528,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
