Meta seeks an experienced, and highly motivated attorney to lead our Payments Regulation team. The position will play a pivotal role defining and executing on Meta's global payments regulatory strategy to address complex supervisory and enforcement challenges worldwide. With a focus on providing forward-thinking advice and counsel, you will help Meta understand and develop compliance solutions for new laws and regulations on a wide range of topics including consumer protection, privacy, security, payments, and more. You will also support Meta's critical engagement with federal, state, and international payment regulators, helping Meta navigate financial examinations, investigations, and briefings on product launches.
Director & Associate General Counsel, Payments Regulation Responsibilities
  • Lead a global team of experienced attorneys in building and maintaining a best-in-class payments regulatory function for Meta
  • Serve as Meta's legal expert on the impact of global legislative, regulatory, legal, and industry developments in the payments space
  • Define and execute on Meta's global payments regulatory strategy, including Meta's engagement with federal, state, and international payment regulators in connection with examinations, investigations, and new product launches
  • Developing solutions to comply with new laws, obligations, and regulatory guidance impacting payment products, working in close collaboration with Meta's payment product, financial integrity, and compliance teams
  • Supervise outside counsel engagements related to our payment products
  • Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders on multi-disciplinary issues
Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 12+ years of legal experience, including people management
  • Experience representing clients before government regulators
  • Experience communicating effectively to all levels of the organization, including executives
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and application of federal, state, and international payment regulations
  • Experience supporting clients through examination by state, federal, or international payment regulators
  • Familiarity with online payment products

$274,000/year to $352,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
