Pride Month is over, but our celebration of — and support for — the LGBTQ+ community in APAC is ongoing. When people have the opportunity to show up authentically at work, they feel empowered to build, collaborate and innovate to their fullest potential. Curren S., a partner solutions manager, explains, “The culture of belonging at Meta enables me to not only bring my true self to work, but also empowers me to be the best person I can be.”
Fostering an inclusive culture begins with making sure everyone at Meta feels taken care of. Employee resource groups like Pride@ provide space for members of the LGBTQ+ community to share their experiences and connect with others, while benefits at Meta ensure team members are supported. Yu Yu D., a strategic partner manager, says she feels grateful to be part of a company that supports LGBTQ+ couples with an inclusive insurance plan. “Meta is the first company that has taken care of my partner and me where it matters,” she shares.

Embracing authenticity at work and beyond

Karen T., Vice President of Global Business Group, APAC, had never participated in an employee resource group before joining Meta and was inspired to see how Pride@ empowers the LGBTQ+ community. Today, as the global co-executive sponsor for the Pride@ employee resource group, she extends the sense of belonging she found at Meta to her community outside of work — from coaching LGBTQ+ small business owners to mentoring professionals in APAC who are looking for career advice.
In celebration of Pride Month, Karen, Curren and Yu Yu joined Carl M., an agency measurement manager for APAC, for a LIVE panel discussion to talk about the importance of cultivating a sense of belonging and share how they each lead with authenticity at Meta and beyond. Here are some highlights from their conversation.

1. What does authenticity mean to you?

2. How do you show up authentically in a conversation where someone has a different point of view?

3. How have you been empowered to bring your full self to work?

4. How do the culture of care and benefits at Meta help support LGBTQ+ team members?

5. How is Meta building for the future with diversity and inclusion in mind?

6. How has joining the Pride@ employee resource group helped shape your experience at Meta?

7. What inspired you to become a co-exec sponsor for the Pride@ employee Workplace group and how do you balance it with your core role?
