Meta is seeking a Research Engineer to join the Fundamental AI Research organization (FAIR), a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI. As a Research Engineer on the Embodied AI team at FAIR, you will be part of an innovative group of research scientists and engineers working on cutting-edge AI technologies for robotics, AR, and VR, and sharing this research with the world. You will play a crucial role in deploying the latest AI advances onto a variety of robot platforms, and have the opportunity to drive the research in directions which improve robot performance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of AI and robotics, while honing your skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Research Engineer, Computer Vision - Embodied AI Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with research scientists and engineers to implement state-of-the-art AI algorithms and models onto real robot hardware and simulation environments.
  • Design and conduct thorough evaluations of AI models on real-world robotic systems, identifying limitations, and proposing improvements to enhance their performance and robustness.
  • Write high quality, readable, reusable code for interfacing between AI models and robot hardware.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
  • Proven knowledge of robotics fundamentals (perception, planning, control)
  • Familiarity with robotics frameworks such as ROS
  • Experience with machine learning models, and frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
  • Effective analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in computer science, robotics, AI, or related fields
  • Strong track record of publications in the fields of robotics, AI
  • Experience with simulation environments such as Habitat, Bullet, Gazebo, etc.

$116,002/year to $168,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
