Data Engineering Manager Responsibilities
  • Drive the vision for Data Engineering across a product vertical, and define and execute on a plan to achieve that vision
  • Define the processes needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and system reliability
  • Build high quality Data Engineering team and design the team to scale
  • Build cross-functional relationships with Data Scientists, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand data needs and deliver on those needs
  • Coordinate Data Engineering plans across a product vertical
  • Drive the design, building, and launching of new data models and data pipelines in production
  • Perform architecture and design reviews in ensuring the data products are of optimal quality and meet user’s needs
  • Develop technical artifacts as needed
  • Oversee development of data resources and support new product launches
  • Drive data quality across the product vertical and related business areas
  • Oversee the delivery of high impact dashboards and data visualizations
  • Define and manage SLA’s for all data sets and processes running in production
  • Mentor Data Engineers on team
  • Recruit and hire Data Engineers
  • Play a critical role in helping to set the goals and direction for team
  • ROLE REQUIRES DOMESTIC AND/OR INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL OF 15% OR GREATER
Minimum Qualifications
  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and 24 months of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 6 months of experience in the following:
  • Data ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) design, implementation, and maintenance on a large scale
  • Programming in Python, Perl, Java, JavaScript, and PHP
  • Writing SQL statements
  • Analyzing large volumes of data to identify deliverables or to provide data-driven insights, gaps, and inconsistencies
  • Data warehousing architecture and plans
  • Informatica, Talend, Pentaho, dimensional data modeling, and schema design
