Meta connects almost 3 billion people and the Data Infrastructure (DI) product team is responsible for building the software to collect, store, analyze and act on the big data stream collected across Meta products that are used by billions of people globally and by data centers, servers, and services that power our products. We run one of the world's largest scale systems in the world all the way from where data is logged to the applications where the data is visualized. This data helps us build better Meta products, to keep our services always on, and to keep customers safe and their data private. The software the DI teams build, which includes data processing and storage, data warehouses, data lakes, dashboards, data exploration and incident management tools, is used by over fifty thousand Meta employees who get insights from our tools to do ad-hoc analysis of data at scale and monitor this data for anomalies. A large number of these are data developers–software engineers, production engineers, data engineers and data scientists. Within the Data team, the Cloud Data, Compute and Storage team’s mission is to build Big Data technologies, including our query engines, data orchestration, language APIs and data lake storage for all data processing at Meta. For example, for Facebook and Instagram, interactions between people and pages they like is an example of the collection and storage of large datasets, and where data can be modeled as graphs. This team builds the underlying data management stack so that Implementing analytics on top of the data can offer useful insights about Meta products, such as improving the way we recommend friends. Suggestions you see in Meta products, like Pages You May Like or People You May Know, are powered by features computed with APIs, services and tools built by this team. We are looking for a manager of Product Managers to take the lead on a broad and complex problem domain that started in the data warehousing and compute space, expanded to storage, and spans multiple pillars of independent teams. Immediately, you will be hiring PMs, and working with engineering teams, to define the vision, strategy and plans to improve Meta’s cloud data and data processing technologies. A key opportunity you may also get is leading expansion by defining an M&A strategy, which is a unique career path among PMs at Meta.
