Counsel, IP Responsibilities
  • Counsel business units on intellectual property (IP) issues relating to content posted by users on the company’s services, particularly involving copyright infringement
  • Advise on policies and systems built to support copyright protection and collaborate with legal colleagues on other company products raising IP issues
  • Develop and apply policies and practices arising under local and international laws, such as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), E-Commerce Directive, and EU Copyright Directive
  • Work closely with global teams across departments and offices, including operations, product and engineering, sales and partnerships, communications, and policy
  • Coordinate legal advice with an international network of outside counsel
Minimum Qualifications
  • Doctor of Jurisprudence degree and 24 months of experience in the job offered or as a practicing attorney. Position also requires a license to practice law from any state within the United States. Experience must include 24 months of experience in each of the following:
  • Assessing legal, practical, and business risks
  • Copyright infringement and supporting copyright protections
  • Intellectual property
  • Developing and applying policies and practices arising under local and international laws, such as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), E-Commerce Directive, and EU Copyright Directive
  • Drafting, reviewing, and analyzing legal documents
