Communications Manager, Augmented Reality, Platform and Product
Meta is looking for a Communications Manager, Augmented Reality, Platform and Product to support the Meta Reality Labs (RL) team. RL is working on building the future of connection within virtual and augmented reality (AR). We’re looking for a communications pro to build and deliver communication strategies that drive awareness and adoption of the Meta Spark platform. Spark is Meta’s platform for AR effect creation that powers all our experiences across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. Today, AR effects on mobile offer a glimpse of the metaverse: where interactive objects and overlays help you connect to people and your surroundings in new ways. From art to expression, communication, advertising and commerce, Spark powers exciting use cases that enrich Meta experiences today and will pave the way to future AR glasses. The ideal candidate is someone who is passionate about emerging technology, understands these underlying capabilities and will be able to convert this knowledge into strategy stories that creators, businesses, and consumers will understand. They should be able to work across complex issues, and have experience collaborating with teams across product, partnerships, marketing, legal, and policy.
Communications Manager, Augmented Reality, Platform and Product Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute creative communications strategies and initiatives to support Spark products, and AR use cases and experiences
  • Work directly with product, marketing, and partnerships to find and drive proactive story moments
  • Handle a wide range of media relationships and be able to work across complex topics
  • Write and edit blog posts, pitches, and other creative materials
  • Plan and manage press events, prep spokespeople, and create briefing materials
  • Manage agency teams to amplify and extend efforts
  • Collaborate across multiple functions including engineering, product, marketing and communications on communications plans
  • Serve as a spokesperson, as needed
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in technology PR or related field
  • Project management skills and experience working cross-functionally
  • Experience with fostering media relations across business, tech and consumer press
  • Experience to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with creator and/or developer communities or platforms
