Meta is seeking impact focused Applied AI experts to join our Applied AI Business Engineering team, a highly technical team that works with strategic partners, machine learning leaders across the industry and all major cloud service providers for building and launching new AI product services and experiences; and taking PyTorch models from research to production. You will engage with some of the world's most influential companies and work closely with our PyTorch engineering and Foundational AI Research (FAIR) teams, as the specialist for AI/PyTorch design patterns and best practices with our developer community and partners. You will write scalable production-grade code across Meta's platforms in collaboration with other product engineering teams. You will get to learn and build on different tech stacks and languages. Business Engineer, Applied AI Responsibilities
  • Drive adoption of PyTorch and Meta's AI/ML offerings, and deliver new projects and/or systems that increase efficiency and scalability with minimal oversight
  • Good understanding of Meta's AI/PyTorch frameworks and underlying implementations to solve customer challenges. Provide insights into how key issues affect product development
  • Build relationships with partners and cloud providers (like AWS) to guide strategy and support deep learning integrations
  • Be a technical subject matter expert, and manage internal stakeholder relationships and collaborate globally to effectively remove barriers
  • Evangelize Meta's AI/PyTorch services, share best practices through forums, medium blogs, whitepapers, reference architectures and deliver presentations in public-facing environments (partner meetings, events, etc.)
  • Develop reference architectures, samples and other materials to share with the broader PyTorch developer community
  • Build new products and improve existing ones in collaboration with Meta product engineering teams and cross functional partners to meet business needs
  • Understand and apply deep knowledge of products, technologies, and business to build solutions to solve for problems at scale
  • Design and build end-to-end systems and launch-plan strategies
  • Use broad range of technical and soft skills to build productive relationships with our partners, and independently resolve complex technical and business needs
  • Use expertise and product insight to deliver high-quality project/integration/partner engagements, while influencing product roadmap to meet the business needs
  • Respond and maintain effective communication with industry partners and internal stakeholders
  • Work with partners to develop a long-term strategic plan, grounded on business objectives, and manage partners during integrations with Meta’s platform products and ensure value creation
  • Build and manage strong working relationships with technical counterparts. Mentor and share knowledge with peers, creating positive atmosphere amongst team
  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback while quickly actioning feedback from code reviews conducted of your code
  • Influence decision-making through presentation of data-centric business topics
  • Participate in interviewing and onboarding of new team members
  • Willingness to travel 25% of the time, may vary per team/function
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years software engineer building and shipping products or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Deep Learning, Computer Vision, NLP, Speech, Conversational AI, AI-Infrastructure, Machine Learning or artificial intelligence
  • Experience with at least one Deep Learning framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, MXNet, Caffe, Jax
  • Experience with open source languages such as Python, Java, Go, Rust, or C/C++
  • Experience with writing and shipping reliable, scalable, and efficient code, with an emphasis on long-term maintainability, in partnership with all appropriate reviewers, in manageable pieces with relevant documentation and test plans
  • Experience with software design and architecture
  • Experience communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building cloud solutions on any cloud
  • Experience with Open Source cloud stacks like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Docker containers
  • Knowledge of Mobile/IoT for deploying ML models at the edge
  • Experience contributing to an Open Source project, submitted PRs for features/fixed bugs and/or created sample applications in OSS or participated in Kaggle competitions
