We’re the team that’s responsible for managing reports surrounding Facebook’s policies and procedures, complex legal issues and the changing landscape of free speech on the Internet. Our Solutions and Integrity team focuses on bringing innovative and scalable technical solutions to enhance the notice-and-takedown process by enforcing our policies against bad actors in the intellectual property space, through automation, abuse detection, and operational excellence. Successful candidates for this team have a bias toward action and enjoy finding patterns amid chaos, making quick decisions, and aren't afraid of being wrong. The perfect candidate will have a background in a quantitative or technical field, experience working with large data sets and data-driven decision making, and some coding experience. You are focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to reduce abuse and negative user experiences across the platform.
Automation Specialist Responsibilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of issues facing our constituents and how it affects Facebook, Instagram and our communities
  • Implement effective anti-fraud automations to eliminate abusive behaviors, based on identified risks
  • Analyze and interpret data in order to devise hypotheses on how fraudulent and other nefarious activity is proliferating. Able to clearly communicate to technical/non-technical audiences
  • Requires contributing to Facebook’s anti-abuse codebase Establish short and long-term goals that will advance the organization’s impact through data and analytics
  • Proactively investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve sensitive escalations
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders including but not limited to Policy, Communications, Escalations, Spam and other operations teams to solve problems at scale
  • Please note that some weekend and holiday work will be required on a shift basis
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS in computer science, statistics, engineering, finance, commerce, physics, applied economics or similar technical field
  • 2+ years of experience in quantitative analyses with large data sets
  • 2+ years of experience in SQL and knowledge with at least one programming language (PHP, Python, Haskell)
  • 2+ years of experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in machine learning, predictive or descriptive analytics
  • Experience in an adversarial space such as IP, fraud, spam, risk, or ad policy
  • Experience with a functional programming language (Haskell, Lisp)
