The Facebook App Org brings together a world-class R&D team of researchers, developers, and engineers. The MRS (Modern Recommendation Systems) Team is developing a unified infrastructure and model service to improve recommendations across Facebook and Instagram. As a Research Scientist on the MRS Team, you will conduct cutting-edge research in the intersection of language, computer vision and other modalities and you will have the opportunity to build AI models that run at the scale of Meta's social network.
Research Scientist, AI (PhD) Responsibilities
  • Develop models that can be deployed in real-world settings.
  • Conduct research that involves the intersection of language, computer vision and other modalities.
  • Code effectively and efficiently in an industrial-grade codebase.
  • Work with cross functional teams to build end to end product that has big-sized impact.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in Python, PyTorch, Deep Learning Models.
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Vision, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and diverse points of view to determine a path forward.
  • Demonstrated experience in building large scale AI systems.
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, ICCV/ECCV, ICLR, ICML or NEURIPS.

$116,000/year to $168,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
