Technical Program Manager Responsibilities
  • Help launch new hardware/software technologies into the network by working with internal and external teams
  • Structure New Product Introduction (NPI) framework for onboarding new IP Networking hardware and software technologies, introducing and delivering new and enhanced capabilities to the Facebook Production Network
  • Engage with network engineering teams early in the life cycle, promoting design for serviceability and shaping the service operational strategy that will support the product until end of life
  • Ensures the product can be effectively supported by all teams spanning from Network Design Engineering, Network Lab/Testing, Network Hardware Procurement, Network Deployment, to Network Operations
  • Continually evaluate and ensure closure on technology operationalization decisions and workflow
  • Recommend and drive workflow changes that improve the speed and predictability of NPI programs
  • Navigate among highly interdependent and sometimes conflicting requirements and objectives across a wide range of cross-functional organizations, providing the judgment and leadership that results in globally-optimal outcomes for Facebook's Network
  • Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases
  • Communicate and report on current risks, mitigation plan and track executions of these programs
  • Telecommute from anywhere in the U.S. permitted (remote work benefit)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Network Engineering, Telecommunications or related field, and two (2) years of work experience in job offered or in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 24 months of experience in the following:
  • Network program management or network engineering, including experience exercising technical judgment at the level of a practicing engineer
  • Either NPI, Network Testing, Network Design Engineering, Network Deployment or operations on a nationwide or global network
  • Network Hardware platforms and Network protocols (TCP/IP, IS-IS/OSPF, BGP, and MPLS)
  • Python or any other high-level programming language
