The Cameras & Sensors group is looking for a Camera Architecture Prototyping Engineer to develop camera & system prototypes for Meta's AR/VR product explorations. The ideal candidate would be able to rapidly build prototypes to enable the team to evaluate new user experiences and promising technologies for the future AR/VR products
Imaging Engineer - Prototyping Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross functional partners to understand 2D/3D camera system imaging requirements by image simulation, camera modeling and/or rapid prototyping to help derive camera architecture specifications down to component level that ties in with ISP, algorithm and system design requirements
  • Partner with optical, sensors, camera system, opto-ME, EE, imaging FW, tuning, machine perception and computational photography teams to develop prototyping methodologies and plans that align to product development milestones, and enable the team to perform quantitative analysis of performance trade-offs for the camera architecture design options under consideration
  • Help define camera technology roadmaps with learnings from rapid prototypes
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Image Processing or a related technical discipline
  • 4+ years of industry or related work experience
  • Experience in several of the following key imaging areas: camera technologies, image signal processing and applications of ML techniques, computer vision algorithms/applications, imaging algorithms, camera and imaging system architecture design and prototyping
Preferred Qualifications
  • M.S. or equivalent experiences in Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Image Processing or a related technical discipline
  • Expertise in several of the following areas: imaging and full system simulations and evaluation of the simulation results, experience with multi-camera calibration, hands-on experience with computer vision algorithms, experience in high volume consumer camera product development, understanding of the latest camera sensors, optics technologies, good knowledge of state-of-the-art ISPs and image quality metrics, excellent software skills
  • Hands on experience with rapid prototyping for computer vision or photographic imaging applications
