Facebook is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer experienced in the operations support and design of critical facilities to become part of our Data Center Facilities Engineering team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly growing infrastructure efficiently operates and our innovative services are delivered. The Facilities Engineering team designs retrofit and upgrade projects and ensures our highly reliable environment is guaranteed. The ideal candidate will be able to work broadly, both leading critical projects cross-functionally as well as work independently leading deep dives and expert analyses.
Data Center Facilities Engineering - Technical Lead Electrical Engineer Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership in a high-impact/high technical complexity/ambiguous area while also being a tech-lead/individual contributor on that team. Contributes deep knowledge and subject matter expertise on projects working toward mastery within pillar.
  • Leads design/technical direction, quality efforts, technical reviews for their team and adjacent teams.
  • An expert in the field of operation and maintenance of Critical Facilities. Mentors other members on how to articulate complex concepts and implementation strategies for addressing critical issues that have company wide impact and the development of the best corrective actions to avoid the same in the future.
  • Actively influence the design of the strategy and shaping of the roadmap within scope - sets the technical vision for the broader team.
  • Consistent track record of executing efficiently against strategy of complex/ambiguous projects. Proactively detects the largest problems with neighboring product teams and contributes to resolution.
  • Delivers multiple large-scale projects with multiple levels of dependencies with multi-team, group-wide impact with complexity.
  • Strategically invests in efforts to improve product quality and engineering efficiency in the long-run. Builds and develops a team and culture that has passion for and organically drives product quality and engineering efficiency.
  • Constantly aware and has a deep understanding of the larger issues and priorities across the organization and keeps the broader teams up to speed through effective messaging. Understand and parse out what is relevant and important to peers and leadership.
  • Act as point of escalation for complex system malfunctions, driving Root Cause Analysis process with cross functional team.
  • Collaborate closely with the other cross functional teams in Meta - Construction, Field Operations, Vendors, Design, Hardware Engineering to ensure the best outcome for Meta's projects.
  • Exercise wide latitude in determining strategic objectives and approaches to critical assignments. Requires minimal guidance from management for structuring and leading teams.
  • Actively involved in sourcing, interviewing and closing candidates for immediate and adjacent teams. Identifies development opportunities for other team members and provides coaching and technical mentorship to other IC's from within and outside of their organization.
  • Approximately 20-30% travel.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and professional license in Electrical engineering
  • 15+ years of combined experience in Operation and Maintenance, Design, Construction and Retrofits of Electrical systems
  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Leader in data center, mission critical facilities, or technical engineering organization
  • Comprehensive knowledge of high voltage (115kV, 12kV) substations, mission critical LV power distribution, UPS and generator power systems
  • Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards
  • Expert knowledge of short circuit coordination and arc flash studies
  • Familiarity with SKM or ETAP power system software
  • Working knowledge and familiarity of other Critical Facility systems such as Mechanical (HVAC) systems, emergency power supply (generators), Control Systems and life safety systems
  • Proficient in load management at the operations level within a critical facility
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in Critical Facilities and/or industrial type of facilities
