Meta is seeking a Data Governance Analyst to join the Client Data Services (CDS) team supporting the Product and Services Operations (PSO) organization. The Client Data Services team strives to make Facebook's data ecosystem and infrastructure accurate, reliable, complete, and ingestible through business-driven initiatives and programs. The Data Management team is responsible for implementing proactive programs and solutions designed to improve and maintain Client data quality. This data supports accurate and complete advertiser, agency and supporting sales team attribution and Client/customer identity. Our team follows data management industry-standard practices and provides a well-balanced, unbiased perspective to help teams solve data problems at scale. As a member of the client data services data management team, the Data Governance Analyst, will be an important link between business users, engineering, and other contributors and point of contact for building a robust solution with the single goal of quick resolution, deep dives, root cause analysis, and process improvement. The Analyst is detail intensive, requiring the accurate capture and translation of data requirements and validation/verification of the working solution. Data Governance Analyst will go deep on learning Meta’s data environment and governance framework to strategize, leverage data expertise and influence solutions, data quality to drive cross-team projects and data roadmap. A successful candidate will be self-motivated, operationally rigorous with a high tolerance for nuance and ambiguity, and comfortable with frequent changes. They have a strong data background, and experience working with business and technical teams. They can influence without authority and have extraordinary collaboration skills to be able to work across teams and time zones. This candidate will require experience in dealing with all levels of management in a highly complex organizational dynamic requiring adaptability, boldness, and creative forward thinking.
Data Governance Analyst Responsibilities
  • The Data Governance Analyst specializes in cross functional data management and data governance initiatives providing insight and guidance towards enrichment, management, and quality of organizational and product metadata
  • The Data Governance Analyst will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to support the team’s mission to manage a central repository of technical and business metadata to enable stakeholders, business processes, and analytics across the organization
  • Work with the business owners/cross functional teams to document, implement and maintain business rules in a tool (Example Informatica Axon/EDC)
  • This individual is responsible for partnering on governance and policies, standardizing data naming, establishing consistent data definitions, and executing on data remediation plans
  • The Data Governance Analyst will execute on our roadmap to implement, optimize, and evolve data governance framework
  • Act as reviewer and administrator in metadata management processes, including triaging user requests, executing updates to data
  • Continuously improve and optimize data definitions, relationships, standards, and quality
  • Analyze data issues and drive appropriate actions with data operations and business process teams
  • Create and maintain appropriate documentation/operating procedures for related processes
  • Maintain in depth understanding of how data flows around the business, who uses it, and how
  • Ability to profile data, assess data quality, analyze data patterns to identify root causes of data issues. Must be able to help drive closed-loop corrective action
  • Defining, building & implementing data governance standards and operating models
  • Ability to understand business processes and pain-points to lead the definition of data requirements which meets complex business needs and drive data quality remediation plans integrity
  • Must be able to write complex SQL queries joining multiple data set for analysis and be able to validate data accuracy
Minimum Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise data governance, data operations, or data management
  • Experience in driving and managing multiple work-streams from scope design to execution with minimal guidance
  • Experience in effectively managing executive level stakeholders, working with international and/or cross-functional teams, and partnering with technical teams
  • Experience evaluating and resolving stakeholder inquiries and provide effective recommendations that meet the overall needs of the business while upholding established guidelines, quality, and standards
  • Experience solving ambiguous problems using data and providing practical business insights
  • Communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior management & cross functional partners
  • Experience with data manipulation (SQL). Knowledge of Data models, Data Modeling (Relational and Dimensional), Data Profiling and working in large data environment
  • Working knowledge of data governance best practices
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience navigating ambiguity while balancing competing priorities
  • Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
  • Experience with data governance industry practices
  • Experience in any of programing languages/Shell Scripting (Python), AWK, SED, ETL, Data import/export, Data Analysis, File processing, FTP process, Automation and/or statistical/mathematical software (R)
