Hardware Systems Engineer Responsibilities
  • Create experiments and tooling to detect and diagnose hardware, firmware, and software health issues
  • Be responsible for the Hardware Lifecycle of all Facebook servers, including pre-production hands-on system and hardware debugging and stress testing
  • Utilize her knowledge of server architecture and components to enable production-ready system monitoring, automated provisioning, and automated remediation of issues
  • In addition to implementing remediations across software and hardware stack according to plan, keep a thorough procedural record and data log
  • She will interface with external vendors and internal hardware, mechanical, power, thermal, manufacturing, and software engineers to understand system architecture to develop and execute the test suites for various architectures
  • Develop test framework for large-scale test automation inside fleet during product development and after mass production
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose root causes of system failures
  • Isolate the components and failure scenarios while working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Develop and publish updates on resolutions and communicate findings internally
  • Develop visibility through data visualization and implement systemic solutions to hardware health issues
  • Drive necessary discussion with external and internal teams on test specification and methodologies to improve test quality continuously
  • Utilize experience with Linux and scripting to change system configurations and measure change impact
  • Work in domains such as Artificial Intelligence-Machine Learning hardware, ASIC development, data storage, interconnect technologies, and various data center network hardware, including switching
Minimum Qualifications
  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 12 months of work experience in job offered or in a -related occupation. Experience must include 6 months of experience in each of the following:
  • Implementing machine learning models using Python to do predictive modeling and root cause analysis
  • Developing and maintaining scalable data pipelines using SQL
  • Designing and presenting modeling and analytical results to do trend forecasts using time series and data visualization tools and libraries such as Tableau and Kibana
  • Analyzing large scale datasets using tools for discovering insights related to infrastructure hardware such as Oracle, Mysql, Hive, and Presto
  • Supporting thermal unit setup and testing to collect data
  • Developing efficient automation tools in languages such as Python
