Lead Counsel, US Privacy & Regulatory Engagement
Meta is seeking a talented attorney to work on our legal privacy team to work on our U.S. privacy team, which is responsible for counseling on U.S. privacy and consumer protection laws and for engagement with federal and state regulators. This role includes opportunities to advise Meta’s product and business teams on compliance with U.S. laws and to work on a range of regulatory matters, including briefings about products and privacy-related announcements; rulemakings; enforcement actions; and other matters. An ideal candidate for the role will have a solid understanding of core privacy laws and principles and a strong grasp of online technologies. The candidate must be a clear communicator and be able to collaborate across functions, including Meta’s product and business teams. You will join a collegial and growing team of privacy lawyers who identify, evaluate and address privacy risk in light of emerging laws, compliance obligations and policies.
Lead Counsel, US Privacy & Regulatory Engagement Responsibilities
  • Serve as the Meta Legal team’s expert on U.S. privacy and consumer protection laws
  • Counsel product and business teams on compliance with U.S. privacy and consumer protection laws
  • Help respond to U.S. regulatory inquiries and investigations
  • Provide legal advice and day-to-day support to the internal stakeholders, including Meta’s Privacy Organization and its products and business teams, about regulator actions and expectations
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience with internet or technology companies (applicable litigation, regulatory, or product counseling will be considered)
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • Experience with U.S. privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, including those relevant for social media, internet and technology companies
  • Business judgment and client counseling experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with federal and state privacy regulators
  • Experience demonstrating initiative in driving solutions cross-functionally
  • Experience managing complex projects
  • Experience working proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience collaborating in a multi-stakeholder environment, navigating complex issues, and driving high-impact projects
