Meta is seeking an experienced Site Lead Construction Manager to join our Data Center Engineering & Construction Team. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly scaling infrastructure efficiently operates and upon which our innovative services are delivered. Building, operating, and retrofitting data centers the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability and capital conservation. The Design, Engineering and Construction (DEC) team thinks from chip to chiller (or electrical substation), determining configurations and ensuring maximum efficiency of our compute infrastructure, and the Infrastructure Delivery team is committed to continual optimization of the delivery process at each level. The Infrastructure Data Center organization and its sub teams operate in a matrix team structure and the Lead Construction Manager will have the responsibility for New Build projects, GC and trade partner relationships, team member development and relationship management with key cross functional operational partners (Facilities Operations, Site Operations) at the site in a culture of collaboration, safety and quality unparalleled in the data center construction industry. The Lead Construction Manager is responsible for large scale green field projects and will be part of a team of matrixed Safety, QA/QC and Project Controls (Cost + Schedule) professionals at site toward predictable outcomes.
Lead Construction Manager Responsibilities
  • Report to Delivery Campus Manager, accountable for projects and the region success in: Safety, Quality, Schedule Milestones, Forecast Accuracy, GMP Accuracy.
  • Responsible for the culture of partnership, teamwork, and growth at the campus.
  • Responsible for the management of major external partner (General Contractor, Trade Partners, Consultants) relationships at the campus level.
  • Responsible for the management of risk identification review process and provide reports (Safety, QA/QC, Financial, Schedule).
  • Responsible for the management of CapEx budgets for the campus.
  • Responsible for the management of warranty work program for existing data center buildings.
  • Responsible to ensure proactive risk identification and mitigation for all new build projects at a data center campus as defined by predictability in: Safety, Quality, Schedule, & Cost.
  • Responsible for the management of cross functional team for Owner Furnished Equipment (OFE) procurement and delivery process.
  • Support the on-site team on the live environment retrofit projects and connectivity (fiber and network infrastructure) projects on campus.
  • Support project contract negotiations (initial and change orders) for General Contractor, trade partner and consultant scopes.
  • Partner with cross functional teams for the development of annual capital project budgets including the provision of requested ROM construction cost estimates.
  • Partner with cross functional teams to finalize project contract negotiations (initial and change orders) for General Contractor, trade partner and consultant scopes.
  • 10% travel to headquarters and other data center campuses.
  • Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent construction experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in construction management or equivalent experience.
  • Proven successful experience with ground-up projects.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards.
  • Highly skilled with negotiations, capital budget management, and contract management.
  • Successful management of large construction teams inclusive of trade partner and/or general contractor management.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of data center systems including mechanical, electrical, building management system and fire protection.
  • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling methodologies and schedule management.
  • Working knowledge of CapEx, and construction cost control strategies.
  • Working knowledge of supply chain management including creative risk and mitigation strategies.
  • Proven success in matrixed organization structures.

$143,000/year to $199,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Please note the national salary range listed in the job posting reflects the new hire salary range across levels and U.S. locations that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s final level and final location. Also, this range represents base salary only and does not include the company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity, or benefits , if applicable.
