Public Policy Associate Manager, Human Rights

Meta is looking for a Public Policy Associate Manager, Human Rights, located in Singapore. This role will work creatively and dynamically to mitigate a broad range of human rights risks; enable rapid response to emerging content or product issues; and strengthen engagement with human rights defenders. This role will report to the Director of Human Rights Policy. and will be a member of a creative and impactful global human rights team, bridging communities across human rights, tech, and business. This position has the potential for significant impact in region and globally.
Public Policy Associate Manager, Human Rights Responsibilities
  • Support a range of due diligence projects and strategies to ensure we "know and show" our human rights risks, according to global standards
  • Detect, analyze, and respond to APAC and global events, then develop strategies and action steps to mitigate rights risks, as well as manage case escalations
  • Provide expert advice on human rights question and mitigations to a wide array of internal stakeholders, including policy teams, operational teams, and management.
  • Collaborate internally and persuasively with partner teams across policy, operations, and legal.
  • Support the needs of external stakeholders, including expert groups, civil society, and human rights defenders
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA or equivalent professional qualification in any field
  • 5+ years of professional work experience in human rights, conflict prevention/resolution, strategic or regulatory response, risk management, or related fields
  • Knowledge of geopolitical, security, or socio-cultural issues in the APAC region, as well as of the impact of digital and new technologies
  • Demonstrated operational or project/program management skills
  • Experience in framing complex policy or technical issues, then building consensus and coalitions for action
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of global human rights standards and principles, ideally including freedom of expression as well as the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
  • Strong knowledge of in-region challenges faced by human rights defenders, women and girls, and/or other vulnerable groups
  • Fluency in an APAC local or regional language
  • Demonstrated experience working in internet or tech policy or operations
