Product Cost Engineer Responsibilities
  • Utilize technical expertise to coordinate all aspects of the financial health of assigned AR/VR(augmented reality/virtual reality) products from initial concept through EOL (end of life).
  • Use technical expertise to drive engineering and the supply chain team to meet program cost targets at a product and commodity level for projects
  • Challenge hardware teams at a technical level to run does to enable cost down efforts from a technology standpoint.
  • Track the program actual costs versus target to identify program deltas and corrective actions to bring back on track.
  • Outline, report, and track all program risks and opportunities related to product cost and drive them to closure.
  • Drive cross-functional cost reviews to report out actual versus target cost and risks and opportunities for each program.
  • Attend program new product introduction meetings to understand the cost implication of engineering and/or process changes.
  • Work with both the global supply management and engineering teams, oversee the establishment of a supplier plan of record (SPOR) for all products.
  • Drive the supply chain and operations team to provide detailed cost reduction forecast to meet and exceed product goals.
  • Work with OPM team to create capital expenditures budget by program.
  • Track actuals to budget and identify opportunities for capital expenditures reduction and capital expenditures reuse on future programs.
  • Apply technical knowledge of consumer electronics, computer hardware, product development, including design, testing, and manufacturing, costing methodologies, and supply chain management.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Engineering Management, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field of study and 24 months of work experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Experience must include 24 months in the following:
  • Cost Model Analysis
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) management
  • Cost risk and Opportunity management
  • Business contract development
