Unit 2 Games is an award-winning, Meta-owned games studio based in Leamington Spa, UK. We were formed in 2017 to build Crayta - our dream is to make game creation accessible to anyone and everyone. We are looking for a Technical Designer to create games and other content within Crayta (our voxel-based game creation platform) that will inspire player engagement. In this role you will be responsible for the design and implementation of our first-party live content, working alongside the rest of the Live Content team and supported by other members of the Development Team (including audio and UI support).
Technical Designer - Unit 2 Games Responsibilities
  • Implement and iterate experience design within the Hub and for events
  • Complete reusable scripted elements to a high level of polish
  • Prototype gameplay designs to illustrate concepts
  • Oversee playtesting and use generated data to iterate design
  • Generate paper designs for sign-off by stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1+ years professional experience in gameplay scripting and technical design, or equivalent educational experience
  • Interest in and understanding of a broad variety of game genres and styles
  • Understanding of different audiences and their goals & motivations
  • Some understanding of performance constraints and implementing algorithms within a scripted environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrable experience with Crayta
  • Experience with developing complex systems through Lua scripting
  • Experience working with UGC editors (eg Roblox)
  • Modding experience
  • Environment and level-building to final quality
  • A portfolio demonstrating a proven track record of delivering gameplay experiences as part of a team
  • HTML/CSS/JS skills for creation of UI elements
  • Experience in independently delivering gameplay experiences
  • Experience in Unity or Unreal Engine
