Meta’s Connectivity Team is looking for strong subject matter experts to design, implement and deploy future novel edge compute systems. To be successful at this role you must have engineering fundamentals to draw on and possess a deep understanding of computer architecture with a focus on CPU, GPU, and memory sizing. The engineer will be responsible for understanding product definition and specifications, evaluate, develop and characterize edge compute systems using off-the-shelf, integrated, and discrete components. You will be responsible for system design, integration, debug and bring-up in the lab and the field with a vision and clear path on transitioning products to high volume manufacturing. Understanding and balancing the engineering trade-offs between performance, cost, lead-time and manufacturability is key.
EE - Hardware Systems Engineer Responsibilities
  • Analyze, design and develop solutions for an offload computing hardware system considering processor, power, memory, latency constraints
  • Drive the specifications across multiple teams to optimize latency and power for effective offload computing for image rendering and quick computations
  • Work across organizations to deliver the next generation hardware system by collaborating with software and wireless communication engineers
  • Detail oriented and diligent, balanced with rapid execution in a fast-paced environment
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of industry experience in hardware design or electrical engineering roles, along with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Technical understanding of computer architecture, GPU, memory sizing and latency reduction for edge compute applications
  • Technical understanding of system architecture (including processor, memory, interconnects, timing, clock distribution, power distribution, digital interfaces, printed circuit boards, embedded systems, etc.)
  • Experience with mixed signal circuit design, high level schematic design and layout
  • Hands-on experience with system bring-up in the lab and subsystem verification
  • Experience with low and high speed digital communication such as I2C, SPI, and USB, as well as analog design experience including implementation of switching power supplies and measurement of analog signals
  • Experience making performance/features vs cost/manufacturability tradeoffs regarding layout, BoM, and placement
  • Understanding of embedded systems, familiarity with device drivers and firmware configuration
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • 10+ years of experience in research or advanced development
  • Experience with high speed interfaces(DDR, SFP, PCIe)
  • Experience in schematic design and layout in OrCAD/Allegro or equivalent
  • Experience designing for the current generations of programmable devices such as DSPs, FPGAs, uControllers, and uProcessors
  • Experience with working with FW teams on FPGA integration and bringup
  • Knowledge of current generation CPU, GPU, memory management and integration
