The hardware Product Integrity team is a central team within Meta Infrastructure that oversees Hardware Reliability, Hardware Safety, and Compliance. It provides Failure Analysis insights on fails across our many Data Centers and projects/products within Meta Infrastructure. HPI is nimble and moves fast; being a central resource succeeds by leveraging key Cross-functional partnerships and working closely with our ODM partners worldwide. The Failure Analysis Engineer lead provides an opportunity to build and lead FA capabilities for Meta Infrastructure and build a central FA lab from the ground up. Oversee various platform and infrastructure FA work from Data Centers worldwide. In partnership with multiple teams such as HW Engineering, Quality Engineering, Optical and Network Engineering, Storage Engineering, etc., the candidate will develop and implement FA strategy for various programs within Meta Infrastructure. The candidate will have an opportunity to work on cutting edge custom infra HW NPI initiatives and build/oversee a strong FA team over time.
Failure Analysis Engineer Lead Responsibilities
  • Help facilitate Failure Analysis on various Data Center HW fails, manufacturing HW fails, fails in Reliability tests, drive RCCA (Root Cause ad Corrective action), and make necessary recommendations.
  • Establish a culture of applying Physics Of Failure (POF) to debug and better understand Root Cause.
  • Drive fault isolation using diagnosis tools and setting up necessary DOEs (Design Of Experiments).
  • Direct, guide and define FA steps and processes and influence/assist Meta ODM/vendor FAs as needed.
  • Review and document thorough FA findings and generate comprehensive FA reports.
  • Oversee all aspects of Lab maintenance, including scheduled preventive maintenance, and ensure asset tracking of equipment and other lab related logistics.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of schematics, circuit design, and experience with electrical test equipment such as Network Analyzers, Oscilloscope, TDR, curve tracing etc.
  • 8+ years of experience with Failure Analysis equipment such as 3D X-ray, X-ray diffraction/radiography SEM, FIB, Digital Microscope, Elemental Analyzer etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Applied Physics or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in debugging thermal induced failures in PCBAs, material characterization, physical failure analysis, dye and pry, re-ball, etc.
  • Communication skills leading to effective presentation of results to different teams and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Good understanding of platform reliability testing , environmental stress testing, mechanical testing
  • Familiarity with Automatic Test Equipment and System Level tests
  • Managed a Failure Analysis lab, FA tools, and lab equipment such as CT, SEMs, X-rays, and Digital microscopes
  • Experience in SOC Failure Analysis
