Meta is looking for an Associate Creative Director to join the Cross Meta Visual Systems team driving coherence of the Meta brand in product. Visual systems is a pillar within the Cross Meta Design Systems team focused on mobile and web surfaces, shared product primitives, and libraries that scale the Meta brand across our Family of Apps. The mission of our team is to provide creative direction that defines our identity in product and to create dynamic and engaging experiences. In every context, we aim to build a connection between our products and the people who use them. We do this through defining visual systems that enable brand expression including iconography, illustration, animation, and design system primitives. We also craft guidance and supporting structures that ensure our brand remains consistent, coherent, and harmonious when used at scale. This person will collaborate with art directors, producers, product teams, and brand folks on driving our visual design standards and quality. This role will propose creative concepts and strategies, guiding development and shipping design that will resonate with our global audience across various forms of expression. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented creative practitioner, with a passion for design systems and holistic thinking, who strives for simplicity, and is known as a strategic partner to their cross-functional peers. They should have the ability to adapt to various creative styles and mediums, and know how to work in product.
Associate Creative Director Responsibilities
  • Lead creative development of visual elements and systems in collaboration with various design groups from product designers, art directors, communication designers, illustrators, and external partners
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, balance the needs of stakeholders, and break down complex requirements into simple, compelling solutions
  • Able to clearly articulate concepts/vision with cross-functional teams and vendors (internally and externally) by driving towards shared milestones
  • Create, inspire, and sustain a culture of excellence with a focus on craft and quality on the work
  • Collaborate with product and eng teams to identify opportunities for product enhancements that would bring greater brand expression and elevate the quality of our work
  • Lead the development of culturally sensitive and appropriate creative for multiple global markets, ensuring that it feels relevant and useful
  • Alongside Design Operations, align on key priorities with cross-functional teams to build shared goals, milestones and objectives
Minimum Qualifications
  • 8+ years experience encompassing interaction design and visual design with proficiency designing across platforms
  • Represents work to broad cross functional stakeholders including product teams, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
  • Effective presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the experience communicating complex, sometimes abstract, concepts clearly and persuasively — Can explain the “whys” behind decisions and direction, is open to being wrong, and has a point of view and can represent it with conviction
  • 8+ years experience working cross functionally with teams such as marketing, brand, product, design, engineering, and user research
  • Experience leading design direction across various multidisciplinary teams with the experience identifying visual design opportunities and elevates the overall product experience
  • Flexes thinking from strategy to creative to user experience to tactical
  • Experience building and shipping applications or software across a variety of platforms
  • Takes design feedback and incorporates it quickly
  • Experience in fast-paced environment that requires managing many dependencies including independent time management, task prioritization, flexibility, and keen experience identifying problems and proactively working towards solutions
  • Understanding of how and when to go to a high level view vs zooming in close to the details
  • Knowledge of design principles related to design systems, brand, marketing, and publishing with understanding of UX design, digital product design, information hierarchy, user-flow, and typography
  • Experience coordinating, directing, providing creative direction to contractors, agencies, and in-house designers
  • Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creative leadership, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
  • Experience bringing clarity to complex, sometimes ambiguous projects and processes

$174,000/year to $241,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual pay is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable. In addition to base salary, Meta offers benefits.
