The RL Technology Engineering for Devices (TED) Team has the responsibility for taking breakthroughs in core technologies and delivering them to market at scale. The Camera and Depth Team is tasked with defining and developing Reality Labs’ cameras and depth modules across all product lines. The team is seeking a Camera Architecture Leader to manage camera architectures as well as the camera architecture team.
Camera Architectures Manager, Camera & Depth, TED, RL, Meta Responsibilities
  • Lead camera architecture definition for Reality Labs’ product lines.
  • Lead collaboration with cross-functional partners to understand and translate user experience requirements into a camera roadmap through a combination of image simulation, camera modeling and/or rapid prototyping efforts.
  • Continue to build and manage a high-performing team of camera architects and managers with diverse backgrounds. Provide technical guidance and career mentorship to team members to efficiently execute the team’s mandate and optimize team members’ career growth opportunities.
  • Define camera and camera-subcomponent KPIs, define methodologies and lead developments for simulation, quantification, and analysis of imaging systems and related performance trade-offs.
  • Analyze and propose existing and new technologies to deliver target camera performance including image sensors, sensor packaging, camera optics, and image processing pipelines for future systems and their hardware implementations.
  • Deliver executive level presentations on camera architecture recommendation based on detailed analysis of quantifiable data.
  • Partner with cross-functional software and hardware engineering teams to develop camera technology roadmaps.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Optics, Physics, Image Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Image Processing or related technical discipline with 7+ years of working experience.
  • More than 3 years of people management experience.
  • 5+ years of camera system development-related work experience, in-depth knowledge of camera feature development working principles and best practices.
  • Working knowledge across the following areas with detailed experience in at least one: Camera module optics design & development Imaging simulation system development Image sensor design & development Image/Video compression algorithms, framework and standard development. ISP pipeline algorithms development Computational photography feature development Computer vision feature development Camera & Depth signal processing algo & SW development.
  • Leadership and interpersonal communication skills, and experience working across multiple disciplines, driving best engineering practices, and mentoring team members.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience and knowledge in managing camera architecture teams.
  • Experience in definition of camera system requirements and specifications from architecture to component selection.
  • Experience working in complex, interdisciplinary organizations.
  • In-depth understanding of contemporary camera & depth signal processing pipeline in consumer electronics products.
  • Experience in embedded camera design and in high volume camera manufacturing.
  • Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic environment.
  • Dedication to advance the camera & depth related user experience in consumer products.
