Developing, operating and managing the data center infrastructure and facilities the "right" way is synonymous with ensuring high uptime, capacity availability, flexibility and capital and operational cost efficiency in a safe, healthy working environment. Meta is seeking an experienced and outgoing individual to join our Data Center Advocacy team to support our strategic engagement on policy issues that impact data center operations. You must have direct experience developing and successfully implementing government affairs and outreach strategies, including policies that relate to energy and sustainability. This role will partner closely with our policy, community development and energy teams.
Data Center Advocacy Manager Responsibilities
  • Lead cross-functional advocacy initiatives related to policy proposals focused on data centers across Europe, and facilitate alignment amongst internal and external cross functional teams.
  • Work in partnership with internal cross-functional partners and external consultants to identify emerging policy issues that relate to data centers and assess the potential impact to Meta data center operations.
  • Build relationships with and understand the perspectives of partners across cross-functional teams to identify potential impacts stemming from policy and regulatory proposals.
  • Identify and track energy related legislation across Europe, manage review from cross-functional partners, and consolidate feedback.
  • Partner with our Policy, Data Center, and Communications teams to facilitate alignment and promote awareness of Meta data centers.
  • Communicate Meta’s positions on key Data Center related issues to external stakeholders.
  • Represent Meta in meetings with policymakers, NGOs, academia, the private sector and other stakeholders, as required.
  • Travel to countries in Europe key to Meta data centers to support the Policy team where needed with local stakeholders (up to 30% travel).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, economics, energy and sustainability or related.
  • 8+ years of experience in energy and/or economic development focused policy advocacy or related strategic fields.
  • Excellent judgment, excellent communication and persuasive skills, creativity, perspective, the ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience leading projects that support advocacy initiatives that span across internal roles and teams (business and policy teams), as well as external partners.
  • Experience building outreach programs and managing stakeholder relations at a national or international level.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully implement strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to translate technical information into strategic content that supports external initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on electoral campaigns or in parliamentary offices (or similar) in a strategic capacity.
