NOC Architect Responsibilities
  • Define document and model architecture while ensuring that the design and verification plan ultimately meets functional, performance, and quality requirements of the system
  • Architect a flexible and configurable interconnect generator to guarantee quality of service at the lowest power and area for data movement within an SoC or an IP-based subsystem
  • Implement specialized knowledge of proprietary tools, technologies, methodologies and processes originally developed by Sonics, Inc. and enhanced by Facebook to define all Network-on-Chips (NoCs) for Facebook’s System on-Chips (SoCs) integrated circuits
  • Employ specialized knowledge to develop NoC and Energy Processing Unit (EPU) components for Facebook’s Augmented and Virtual Reality SoCs
  • Gather chip requirements by collaborating with other Facebook technical experts and explore/choose the appropriate NoC features and structures to match those requirements, and optimize performance/area/power using simulations and physical design analysis
  • Monitor new industry communication protocol standards to ensure Facebook’s NoC products and technology support the most recent/advanced protocols
  • Generate executable code starting from a high-level synthetic description of IPs and subsystems
  • Define network-on-chip roadmap in collaboration with SoC architects, security experts, IP leads, and power architects at Facebook
  • Design and develop architectural specifications for network-on-chip technology
Minimum Qualifications
  • Employer will accept a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, and 60 months of experience in a computer-related occupation. Experience must include 24 months of experience in the following:
  • Demonstrated experience with SonicsStudio tools suite, such as StudioDirector for SGN, EPU, or SSX
  • Demonstrated experience with network-on-chip architecture development and analysis
  • Demonstrated experience mapping SoC dataflows into NoC implementations that meet heterogeneous latency and throughput requirements between CPUs, DSPs, I/O devices, and domain-specific accelerators and a mix of SRAM-based and DRAM-based shared memory
  • Demonstrated experience in cycle-accurate performance analysis in SystemC, functional simulation in RTL, and logic synthesis and timing analysis at the gate level
  • Demonstrated experience in deploying NoC generators as both the primary NoC instance developer and as a consulting advisor to internal or external NoC instance developers
