R&D Industrial Hardware Engineer

Meta is seeking a Data Center R&D Industrial Hardware Engineer experienced in the creation and implementation of hardware for integration with our Data Center infrastructure to become part of our Data Center Strategic Engineering team. This role will help create new hardware solutions intended to integrate our data center infrastructure systems with first of kind user interfaces, integrating operational data, equipment attributes, systems hierarchies, and system models.
R&D Industrial Hardware Engineer Responsibilities
  • Drive a culture of excellence in engineering, characterized by deep technical competence, creativity, rigorous analysis, data-driven decision making, and collaboration
  • Define and deliver system architectures encompassing data center infrastructure support systems with hardware, data, system modeling, controls, simulation, 3D VR visualization, and AR environments to improve physical infrastructure reliability, efficiency, speed to market, and cost
  • Lead and develop fundamental and applied proof of concept projects and prototypes to evaluate the benefits and feasibility of the solution for broader deployment
  • Cross-functional collaboration with other Meta teams including Hardware Engineering, Network Engineering, Data Center Design, and Software Engineering teams
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams on blank-slate and early-phase prototyping and system exploration, mapping it to strategic and system problems
  • Develop strong industry relationships with internal teams to influence technology development
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to data center sites and meetings with vendors and industry partners
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience with the development of new hardware, equipment, and software products
  • Minimum of eight (8) years professional experience in the design of integrated hardware and controls systems
  • Knowledge of Networking Server/Client Workstations
  • Effective presentation communication skills
  • Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills
  • Cross-discipline knowledge and experience with creation and visualization of complex integrated systems
  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Large and complex system design experience, including dependent software, hardware, and facilities
  • Background in research and development
  • Working knowledge of integrated systems stack: supporting physical infrastructure, computer, network, storage, and software architectures
  • MSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field
  • Research & Development experience including concept, design, modeling, prototyping, testing, and production support
