Associate General Counsel, Civil Litigation EMEA
Meta seeks a highly motivated and experienced individual for a role on EMEA Disputes Civil Litigation team. The role is full-time based in London. The successful candidate will be joining a rapidly expanding international legal team to work on issues in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. The role will act on high-profile, precedent-setting civil litigation across the EMEA region focusing on complex multi-jurisdictional claims, class actions, and novel litigation, wherever it arises in EMEA. As part of the role, they will partner with other legal teams and internal stakeholders from across the business. The ability to collaborate closely with others is a must. The ideal candidate will have exceptional legal judgment, a track record managing complex litigation in more than one jurisdiction, a strong work ethic and proven leadership skills, and a keen interest in developing their knowledge of new technologies and areas of the law. Outstanding written skills and an ability to explain those technologies in concise and accessible ways to complainants and courts of all levels are required. The right candidate will also be motivated to improve processes and take on new projects to deliver meaningful results to the benefit of the legal team. Associate General Counsel, Civil Litigation EMEA Responsibilities
  • Formulate and execute on complex litigation strategy in relation to matters pending before national and international courts across EMEA, with a broad remit across privacy, content and product litigation.
  • Partner and coordinate with key internal stakeholders such as other legal teams, public policy and communications colleagues, business and product teams.
  • Manage Outside Counsel relationships across a busy docket including with a material oversight on costs.
  • Provide internal legal advice across many subject areas, with a particular focus on assessing litigation risk when informing product development.
  • Assess legal, practical and business risks independently, quickly and accurately and present this advice to legal and non-legal leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction.
  • Significant experience post-qualification litigation experience, leading complex litigation.
  • Experience litigating GDPR/privacy issues and other media/technology related claims, as well as mass/class actions and multi-jurisdictional claims.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage large-scale projects, lead teams on complex contentious matters and drive change and improvements to processes.
  • Passion for and understanding of technology.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency in another European language is very useful but not required.
  • Prior experience working with internet or technology companies.
