This role is responsible for all the operational and pre-production activities in a new state of the art Meta pilot line facility in Eindhoven. The facility operates 24/7 and is 3D printing lenses for Meta internal customers. The goal of the facility is to deliver small batches of lenses to internal customers and develop the process for high volume manufacturing for future outsourcing. Your primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and controlling all the steps in the production process and managing a team of operators, as well as a production engineer, and a quality engineer. The position will also be in charge of the service team which has a support role for the pilot line and for the other printer locations. Your role will also include formulating plans, reporting results, improving performance, procuring material and resources and securing compliance. You should be ready to mentor your team members and find ways to increase quality and implement best practices across all levels.
Operations Manager - 3D Printing of Optics Responsibilities
  • Manage a large team of operators (15+), both FTE and CW, and 3 support staff who operate 24/7 in multiple shift settings.
  • Overseeing manufacturing and production processes.
  • Manage the service team 3 FTE and 2 CW’s, assuring support for the printer locations in Eindhoven, Turnhout, Redmond and Basel.
  • Coordinating the different teams to foster exchange of ideas and provide cross-team learning opportunities.
  • Inspire and motivate employees and contract workers to perform at their best through positive encouragement and initiatives.
  • Communicating with management and other parties about priorities, results and new projects.
  • Report together with the pilot line DRI on performance and results, monitoring productivity rates, standards, and quality control.
  • Implement safety, health, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Manage inventory levels of raw materials, consumables, and spare parts to ensure uninterrupted production operations.
  • Monitor equipment usage, maintenance schedules, and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Support transition to high volume manufacturing including preparation of technology transfer packages to future suppliers to Meta.
  • Prepare the service team to support additional locations.
  • Hire and train new operators and service engineers through our outsourcing partner.
  • Assure compliance with Meta procedures and coordinate legal compliance with support teams within Meta.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 15+ years' work experience of which 5 years in a formal management role.
  • Master degree (or international equivalent) in the Engineering or Operations Management field or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team management and client interactions.
  • Experience of running a multiple shift production facility in the Netherlands.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in manufacturing and manufacturing management.
  • Knowledge and experience on managing a service organization.
  • Experience of managing a team in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3D printing manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in transfer of knowledge to suppliers.
